Here’s a handy chart for you, you stupid trilobite. You human paraquat:

http://www.truthandpolitics.org/top-rates.php

“In another era, with real fiscal deficits larger than we face currently, President Kennedy reduced taxes.”

The top tax rate under Kennedy was 91%, you idiot. If we could make it work at 91%, we can make it work at an increased rate for selfish greedy pricks like you. That’s right. I called a lady a prick. You call yourself a democrat?

“During our last devastating global economic crisis, Franklin Roosevelt protected this country from the statist dictatorships that were emerging in the rest of the world. He protected capitalism by creating programs and institutions to protect innocent people but did not raise taxes and did not remove incentives for private wealth creation.”

That’s just a lie. Under FDR the top marginal tax rate went from 25% to 79%. Raising taxes on those who could most afford to pay helped save our country.

I don’t know when your father worked his 2 jobs, but since you look like you’re about 100, I’d say he worked his two jobs in the 1840-1880 range, and we didn’t have a progressive tax system then. In conclusion, YOU SUCK!

My friend Jon also said I should call you a cunt, but I’m not going to, even though you are one.

At this point, republicans realize that they suck. Top republicans admitted it to Jonathan Martin, who wrote about it on his blog. Apparently the are going to have a super secret meeting where they’ll all get together to plot the further destruction of America the future of their party. The goal will be to fashion a “national grassroots political and policy coalition similar to the out Reagan years[]“.

There’s nothing wrong with that. The republican’s are reeling, and they need to bounce back. So how should they accomplish their resurgence? They say, and I agree, that they need to return to “conservative principles” that they abandoned under the Bush years. Martin’s source correctly states that “[t]here’s a sense that the Republican Party is broken, but the conservative movement is not[]“.

I really think this statement is true. Look at the support Ron Paul has garnered as he has railed against Bush, who has been the biggest spending, socialistic President in our history. However, Ron Paul is not the guy to lead the republicans back to the promised land. Even though he talks like a real conservative, he’s old and nutty. They need a fresh face that is going to represent a return to intellectual conservative thought, rather than the kind of idealistic, theocratic, demagogue we’ve dealt with over the last eight years right? Kind of like Romney but less Mormony. Or Fred Thompson but less Foghorn Leghorn. Kind of like Giuliani but in a less cross-dressing, liberal, fear mongering way.

No. Here is what they come up with instead: “Should McCain lose next Tuesday, the conversation will include who to groom as the next generation of conservative leaders – a list that will feature Palin at or near the top.”

Republicans, are you fucking kidding me? Palin? This idiot is MORE divisive than Bush. I didn’t think that would be possible but it is. Just look at the polling. People HATE her. Conservatives too, in case you haven’t noticed.

Republicans, if you lose on Tuesday, its very apparent that Palin is going to be one of the main reasons why. She’s a drag on your ticket. She’s chased conservatives away. Lots of them are voting for Obama and/or abandoning McCain BECAUSE OF HER! You guys really need get your act together, because right now you’re just digging yourselves a deeper hole. Ditch this lady now if you want to live. Find someone qualified, who stands for your principles, not more divisive, fear mongering, race baiting, demogougery.

And it can be a woman. It really can. Don’t try to say, like Joe the Scarborough did this morning that the media is just sexist, by comparing the treatment Palin gets to the treatment Hillary got. Don’t say, like Palin did when she learned from a cup that Madeline Albright said women should help other women (which Palin doesn’t, see e.g., rape kits, charging for), that its sexist not to support women. Now, I don’t think the media was sexist against Hillary, but even if it was, she is emminently more qualified than Palin. And so the sexism charge makes more sense when leveled against someone competent. Palin deserves the treatment she is getting. The only people left who like her are the ones who want to fuck her like Rich Lowry or Bill Kristol. Take it from people within the McCain campaign who have had this to say:

“She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone”,

“She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else”,

She is a “a whack job.”

“Palin simply knew nothing about national and international issues.”

Republicans, don’t you want someone smart? Someone capable? Someone accomplished? Look, its not like I’m tripping over myself trying to look after your best interests. I’m just terrified that you’ll keep on choosing morons who appeal to base paranoia and hatred to represent you and that one day one of those morons will actually win. Its a nightmare. Can’t you find any more George Bush Sr.s (man, I never thought I’d miss him)?

In the United States, there’s a little thing called freedom of religion. Section VI of the Constitution (It’s a thing in America, look it up if you haven’t heard of it) states:

…all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

The First Amendment states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

So its particularly alarming when “real Americans“, as the reactionaries have come to call themselves these days, purport to abide by the true ideals of America in a way that tacitly expresses contempt for its values.

Take this video that Andrew Sullivan found:

Our founders clearly desired religion to be the oil to water of policy, but Tracy here identifies her main issue as religion. She will vote for whoever “has the most faith in the Lord.” Well Tracy, what if the one who has the most faith in the Lord is also, someone who, I don’t know, would send to interment camps all fat ass ignoramuses? “The Lord will take care of us”, she says.

“I can’t imagine having a President of the United States, named ‘President Obama’. I really have a problem with that, and I’m not the only one.”

Oh yea yea, I never considered that until just now. Good point.

No wait. That’s not a good point. Have you read the Constitution?

“His background…ugh. A mother that was athiest. Ugh, that REALLY gets to me. ” She says. “A father that was a Muslim.” She says, eyes widening. “That should get to everyone.”

What? I didn’t know that! An athiest mom and a Muslim dad??? THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING! Wait though…what about the issues?

“The Lord will take care of us.”

Oh yea. I forgot.

Oh wait though again…I thought he’s a Christian. Remember, he goes to that Church with that guy.

“The Church they were members of?” She asks, shaking her head in disapproval. “That’s not the Christianity I know. That’s not the Christianity that’s in the Bible.”

Doesn’t the Bible say, “Judge not lest ye be judged”? Yea, I found it on the Google. Matthew 7:

1

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

6

¶ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

So, Tracy, don’t judge Obama, because he’s a reasonable man, and he’s going to work for your best interests. He hasn’t judged you. But judge me, because I think that you are a rotten fat ass idiot, who doesn’t know what it means to be an American OR a Christian. Go back to elementary school and take a civics class you bigot. Then go back and read the Bible using any of the critical reasoning skills you might have picked up while there.

Never missing an opportunity to whine, Rush Limbaugh today spoke to Jonathan Martin, and told him that:

Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race…OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I’ll let you know what I come up with.

I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia. I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star [general] and secretary of state and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let’s hear it for transformational figures.

I’m really really eager to find out what Rush comes up with. This is just another attempt to inject race into a high stakes election that has much much more to do than with just race. Is it not enough that a four-star general is very impressed with Obama’s mental acuity? If Rush was listening closely instead of just hearing what he wanted to hear, he would have realized that General Powell made a reasoned decision based on a number of credible factors having nothing to do with race.

The most important, from what I can gather, is that the Republican party has changed (You’ve changed man…you used to be cool). Gone are the days of Reagan and Bush the elder. These were the days of reasonable conservative thought (limited government, low spending, tough but rational foreign policy). Instead, we are left with big-spending, theocratic, Constitution hating, propagandist, hate mongering, fear mongering, oligarchic unilateralists/adventurers. I suspect that if an old-timey Republican like John McCain circa/pre-2000 was running, Mr. Powell would have endorsed him/her.

There is certainly also bitterness remaining within General Powell towards Bush Jr. and his cast of clowns. These are the people who destroyed the Republican brand, and Powell’s integrity in the process, when they fed him lies and told him to convey them to the world in front of the United Nations in 2003 (even having done that, General Powell has more integrity in his pinky toenail than Bush or Cheney have accumulated and lost in their entire lifetimes. He did it out of loyalty, not because he wanted to. In fact, his integrity made him the perfect puppet for Cheney to trot before the world stage).

But as Andrew Sullivan will tell you, today’s Republican Party is not the Republican party of the 1980s and 1990s. The party of Palin is nothing more than den of hate-filled pigs burying their heads happily in a trough of ignorance. They are unprincipled to any extent except for their conception of God and country, which itself based on nothing but the their conception of the Bible (which incidentally is incorrect. They read hate instead of love). Certainly, it isn’t based on the Constitution, which tells us that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL.

General Powell made this point when he asked why Muslim is a bad word in America. He asked, why can’t a seven year old Muslim boy be President one day. After all, he reminded us that they die for our country like other great soldiers of other (or no) religions.

This is what the Bush-Cheney-Palin crowd has done to the Republican party. Mr. Powell did not leave the Republican party. The Republican Party left him. I wouldn’t expect Rush to understand. He’s been the primary cheerleader the entire time.

As for Rush’s inference of General Powell’s “dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia”. It is baseless. General Powell never said he disliked these Justices. But he’s an intellectual guy. He’s also a pragmatist. He probably doesn’t want a judiciary that is bereft competing viewpoints, especially at a time when the Republican party is becoming Palinized.

Finally, sure, as Drudge reminds us, General Powell did discuss how totally awesome it would be for America if we elected our first African-American President. But (a), General Powell is right (just ask Condoleezza Rice (”It just shows that our country has been doing this for a while and it’s great that this last barrier, perhaps, has also come down.”); (“…I think that what we’re seeing is, an extraordinary expression of the fact that ‘we the people,’ is beginning to mean all of us”)) and (b) to not take General Powell’s word that his support for Obama goes beyond race is to call him a liar. Also, let us not forget at least ten other generals and admirals (including White ones!) also support Senator Obama.
